Refenence Audio Mods - 'Best Parts for Better Sound!' Reference Audio Mods - Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2006

Head-Fi.org 2nd Annual Head Fest 2007 International Meet

San Jose, California, USA

Reference Audio Mods was attending the HeadFest 2007 show together with Kryophysics in San Jose, CA from 4/21/07 to 4/22/07

Headphone Amplifier:

A Modified and Cryogenic treated PS Audio GCHA ($700 total for mods/cryo) was used to power our AKG K701's Headphones.
The difference between stock and modified is quite amazing. Many people were stunned on the openess, clarity and resoltuion of this fine modified unit.

Digital front ends:

We used a fully Modified Marantz SA-8001 unit as one of our main sources for the show. Stunning sound to say the least!

Three very cost efficient OPPO 970 HD Universal Players were demoed as follows:

  1. Stock

  2. Stock but Cryoed

  3. RAM modified with full mod package and Superclock 4 option and Cryo Option

Simply shocking!!

All RAM Digital sources & Modded PS Audio GCHA were connected to Audio Consultings PM Isolation Transformers (in the nice wooden box) to provide a means of mains correction for the show.
Also displayed was the Audio Consulting M6X Power transformer upgrade for digital sources, Signal Coupling Transformers for analog output stage mods
and 24awg 99.99% Silver Wire and Natural Unbleached Cotton tubing. We used Audio Consultings Signature Interconnects and Power cords for connections.

Here is Kyle Takenaga (RAM West) and Douglas Jesse (RAM East) answering questions after the RAM/Kryophysics Lecture/Demo on the effects of cryogenic treatment and electronics modifications.

Speakers:

Speakers used for the lecture/demo were borrowed from Todd the Vinyl Junkie. "Thanks Todd!!!"
Speakers are by Sehring, Model S700 SE and the wiring is the Nordost Blue Heaven REV II. These speakers were powered by Bel Canto REF1000 amplifiers.
The sound surprisingly filled the room and sounded very good, and everything was put together at the last minute.
It was nice to hear a speaker system for once in some days, and give some head-fi'ers a chance to hear for themselves if they have never heard a speaker based system.

Various:

Wooden lenses from Arbelos Elektroakustik were installed under the CD players, and headphone amplifier.

Various DIY Products were shown such as: Rubycon ZA/ZL capacitors, Jensen 4pole Electrolytics, Audiocom Superclock 4/PSU,
New Audiocom Ultraclock, Audiocom PPR2 Invisus Regulator, Jensen Paper In Oil Capacitors, Eichmann Technologies Bullet RCA plugs/Cablepod Binding posts,
and Audio Consultings 24awg Silver Wire and Natural Unbleached Cotton tubing and Signal Coupling Transformers
